Gideon Herscher

Gideon Herscher is the director of humanitarian relief and assistance at JDC. For 11 years he has developed and implemented programs and partnerships for vulnerable spopulations in Israel and across the globe, including Ethiopia, Rwanda, and most recently, post-earthquake Haiti. He played a central role in the establishment of the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda—an Israel-inspired orphan-care model for the 1.2 million orphans of the Rwandan genocide. Gideon is a talented composer and musician who has performed his own music in a variety of Jerusalem nightspots.
